To mark World Earth Day (22 April), British Triathlon and the three home nations of England, Scotland and Wales, have launched a Sustainability Commission.
The aim of the Commission is to find people from the triathlon community to help drive the sport forward in its desire to be more sustainable.
Ben Cummings, Director of Commercial and Major Events and a member of British Triathlon’s Environment and Sustainable Committee, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be launching the Sustainability Commission. We have announced the commission on World Earth Day in a drive to further cement our commitment to sustainability across the sport all the way from grassroots to our performance teams.
British Triathlon is looking for members of the community to apply for the ten roles available on the commission. Successful applicants will be tasked with developing and implementing a sustainability policy and monitor the progress of these plans.
Since 2019, British Triathlon has had an Environment and Sustainability Committee which has been working to make sustainable changes within the Governing Body.
“We need our community to support this, and I would encourage anyone with expertise and interest in sustainability and sport to get involved. I know that together we can achieve great things and I am looking forward to promoting a healthy and sustainable sport for the future generation who share our passion for swim, bike and run,” added Cummings.
