The Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya creates the Sustainability Trophy

As part of the 24 Hours of Catalonia on Motorcycling, the world track will reward the team that demonstrates a greater commitment to the environment.

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya continues to reinvent itself and make progress in sustainability matters, based on the 3C management strategy: Consciousness, Commitment and Coherence.

Coinciding with the celebration of the 26th edition of the 24 Hours of Catalonia of Motorcycling, the Catalan track will encourage its participants to acquire awareness and show their commitment to sustainability. For this reason, they have created the “Sustainability Trophy”, a reconnection that will award the team that will develop the most sustainable actions to complete the project.

The contest will be organised via the teams social media channels on which they will show all the initiatives to raise awareness and advise to inspire all their stakeholders. The participants must show photographs and videos, accompanied by messages that reflect on the subject, using the official hashtag, # 24hCAT, and tagging the Circuit on the different platforms. Only those teams that finish the race will be eligible for the award.

The actions in the area of ​​sustainability that are promoted by the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, certified in the ISO 14001 standard, the ISO 20121 standard for the competition and the Biosphere Commitment, can serve as inspiration to the participants. Among them it is possible to highlight the follows: gastronomy Km0 to avoid CO transport emissions from transport and to favor the local economy; the efficient use of energy and water, recharge of electric vehicles, the donation of the surplus food to a local social shelter;

The Stop Food Waste campaign is another initiative dedicated to avoid the waste of food and reduce the waste generated by the event. Circular economy should be adresses, with the recycling of tires or the valorization of the waste collected selectively (cardboard, packaging, organic etc). In addition, the circuit has a large area of ​​forest, and organises programs to sustainably manage this asset to enhance biodiversity.
